TETHiK’s Net Zero Journey: Building a Low-Carbon, Remote-First Future
At TETHiK, we believe that building great technology and taking climate action should go hand in hand. As a fully remote, cloud-driven company, we are intentionally designing a low-carbon operating model—one that reduces our footprint today and sets us up to reach Net Zero in a realistic, responsible way. Today, we are committing to a Net Zero journey: to measure our emissions, reduce them wherever we can, and responsibly offset what remains. This is not a one-time campaign, but a long-term commitment to how we work and grow as a business.
Why a Remote-First Model Matters
TETHiK has been remote-first from the beginning. That choice isn’t just about flexibility and access to global talent—it also significantly reduces our environmental impact.
A remote-first approach helps us:
- Eliminate daily commuting: No large office and no daily car or public transport trips for most employees.
- Reduce office energy use: We avoid the heating, cooling, and lighting footprint of a traditional office footprint.
- Encourage smarter travel: Customer and internal meetings are default-virtual, with in-person travel used only when it truly adds value.
Our Net Zero Commitment
Our goal is to reach Net Zero operational emissions by focusing on reduction first and high-quality offsets for what we cannot yet eliminate. To do that, we will:
- Measure our footprint: Track emissions from cloud usage, business travel, devices, and home-office support.
- Prioritise reduction: Choose lower-carbon tools and vendors, limit non-essential travel, and extend device lifecycles.
- Use responsible offsets: For the emissions we can’t yet avoid, invest in credible, transparent climate projects.
- Review progress annually: Publish updates on what we’ve achieved, what we’ve learned, and where we need to improve.
How This Shows Up in Our Day-to-Day Work
Climate action at TETHiK is built into everyday choices, not just long-term targets. In practice, that means:
- Default-virtual collaboration: We design engagements to be effective online first, reducing travel by default.
- Conscious project planning: When travel is needed, we bundle meetings and workshops to minimise flights and trips.
- Cloud with intention: We favour efficient cloud services and monitor usage to avoid waste.
- Employee awareness: We encourage our teams to make low-carbon choices in their workday—whether that’s equipment, travel, or meeting formats.
Looking Ahead
We know Net Zero is a journey, and we won’t get everything right on day one. But we are committed to learning, improving, and being transparent about our progress along the way.
As TETHiK grows, we will continue to refine our targets, deepen our measurement, and look for new ways to reduce our impact while delivering high-quality outcomes for our customers.
This is our public commitment: to build a company that not only serves our clients, but also contributes positively to the planet we all share.
